Recent Legislation Involving Green Building
On April 12, 2006, Mayor Nickels signed new downtown zoning legislation that incorporates a LEED incentive into updated rules for the central office core and adjoining areas, including Denny Triangle and a portion of Belltown. These changes provide greater heights and/or greater maximum floor area for commercial and residential buildings.
Seattle's Green Building Policy
Seattle's Green Building Policy calls for all new City-funded projects and renovations with over 5,000 square feet of occupied space to achieve a LEED Silver rating. Details
Office of Sustainability and Environment
The City's Office of Sustainability and Environment, under the leadership of the Mayor, collaborates with City agencies, business groups, nonprofit organizations, and other partners to protect and enhance Seattleās distinctive environmental quality and livability.
