Web Site Statistic Term Definitions
* Page views are what people once called web site "hits". A page view is you looking at one web site page. As you move to another web page you create another page view. (The images and page elements you view on one web page are what are now counted as "hits".)
* Sessions. Someone might come to a web site and visit a number of different pages on the site before they are done. The sum total of their visit to all the various pages they see is called a session. We can report the number of sessions for any particular web site on the City of Seattle web site.
Urchin is the software we use to analyze web site traffic. For those of a technical mind we don't currently use the UTM module.
