Fire Entry-Level Exam Application

Application Filing Period is Currently Closed
 
Police Officer Application/Exam Process

Application Period:  Opens August 15, 2008
(Please see note below)

Exam date: October 11, 2008

Location: Notification will be sent you via US mail - Approximately 2 weeks prior to the exam

Note: Applicants must wait six (6) months to re-test

PLEASE NOTE:  Due to a variety of scheduling and capacity issues, only the first 250 entry-level candidates who apply to take a monthly exam will be invited to take the test.  The filing period will then be closed, and all other entry-level candidates will be asked to apply for a subsequent exam when the filing period for that exam opens.

You may, however, continuously file for the position of Lateral Entry Police Officer. A Lateral Entry police officer is an experienced police officer with 24 months of continuous service as an officer with another agency (during the last 36 months).  If you are an entry-level candidate, you may not apply for a lateral entry position.

Entry Level Applicants

  1. The Written examination will be administered on:
    Saturday, October 11, 2008

  2. If you achieve a passing score on the written examination you will be invited to participate in the Physical Agility examination on:
    Afternoon, Saturday, October 11, 2008

  3. If you achieve a passing score on the Physical Agility Examination you will be invited to participate in the Oral Interview Board process on:
    Sunday, October 12, 2008

  4. If you achieve a passing score on the Oral Interview Board you will be invited to complete the written Personal History Questionnaire immediately following your Oral Board on:
    Sunday, October 12, 2008

  5. You will then be invited back to have an interview with a background detective on: Monday, October 13, 2008

Lateral Applicants

  1. The Written examination will be administered on:
    Saturday, October 11, 2008

  2. If you achieve a passing score on the written exam you will be asked to complete:
    - Personal History Questionnaire(PHQ)
    - Interview with Seattle Police Background Detective

The completion of the PHQ will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2008 after the administration of the written exam. The remainder of the process will be conducted on Monday, October 13, 2008.

Request an Application by Mail
During an open or ongoing application filing period, an application may be requested through the mail by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope ($.63 stamp for Fire Fighter Application and $.55 for Police Officer Application) to:

Please write "Fire Fighter" or "Police Officer" in the lower right hand corner of the envelope to indicate which application you are requesting.
